Welcome to the Fayetteville Freeride Park |
Welcome to the Fayetteville Freeride Park
Fayetteville, West
Virginia is a top destination for outdoor sports, Freeride Mountain Biking should be no exception.
Located
next to The New River Gorge, Fayetteville stands out among the rest for
having the best of all outdoor extreme activities. Now, with the existing trail
system, Fayetteville
is building the FIRST municipal freeride park in the West
Virginia. Fayetteville has
dedicated roughly 10 Acres of land owned by the town to build and maintain a
park specifically designed for a skills development area for mountain biking.
The freeride park is designed as an area close to Fayetteville where everyone can go and "develop
and test" their skills and learn new tricks to use while mountain biking on our
local trail system. The freeride park is focused on the COMMUNITY of cycling and
will be dedicated to continually growing with the skills and desires of the
bikers who are using the park. Being built of mostly of earthen and wood
materials; it will be easy to maintain, change, and manipulate. The freeride
park is being built by the locals of the township and is being funded entirely
through Donations, Grants, and VOLUNTEER hours!
Fayettevilles Freeride Park will be completely free for all mountain bikers to
enjoy. There are certain rules and regulations everyone must abide by for the
safety of others and yourself. The freeride park will open daily at sun up and
closes at dusk.
This Febuary we were
awarded a grant from the department of Highways Recreational Trails program in
the amount of $16,000 (which is allot of dirt and wood to build with) Also, with
the local town municipality’s commitment to this project, the park is set to
open early to mid summer 2008! Construction has been ongoing since the winter of
2007. Starting with the trail layout and design taking careful consideration to
work with the land and do as little cutting as possible. The “outer loop” layout
and initial cut was finished in mid February. The warmer weather is allowing for
continued development and soon we will be announcing a Trails work day to invite
everyone out and participate in the construction and grand opening. Keep
checking back for the current info and for trail work dates!
